163:

முட்டை பிறந்தது முந்நூறு நாளினில்
இட்டது தானிலை ஏதேனும் ஏழைகாள்
பட்டது பார்மணம் பன்னிரண் டாண்டினிற்
கெட்ட தெழுபதிற் கேடறி யீரே. 

பொருள் விளக்கம்

அறிவில்லாத மக்களே, தாய் வயிற்றில் முட்டை யாய்த் தோற்றம் எடுத்த உடம்பு, முந்நூறு நாள் காலக் கணக்கில் அங்கே தங்கி வளர்ந்து பின்பு வெளிப்போந்தது. பின் பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுக் காலக்கணக்கில் அதற்கு மணவினை என்னும் பேச்சும் உலகத்தில் நிகழ்ந்தது; பின் எழுபது ஆண்டுக் காலக் கணக்கில் செயல் இழந்து கிடந்தது. இவ்வாறு அது ஒவ்வோர் இமையும் அழிவு நெறியிற் சென்று கொண்டிருத்தலை அறிந்திலீர். அதனால் உமக்குத் துணையாக நீவிர் தேடி வைத்துக் கொண்டது யாதும் இல்லை.

 muṭṭai piṟantatu munnūṟu nāḷiṉil
iṭṭatu tāṉilai ētēṉum ēḻaikāḷ
paṭṭatu pārmaṇam paṉṉiraṇ ṭāṇṭiṉiṟ
keṭṭa teḻupatiṟ kēṭaṟi yīrē.  

Meaning-[ What Did the Body Leave Behind?]

Three hundred days agone, the foetus emerged,

Naught remains of it now, dear friends, you know;

In twelve years' time it learned to smell the rich odours of life

At seventy it turned to dust--thus briefly ends the show.
